Double award winning AllClear – Gold at industry awards!

April 5, 2019 by AllClear3

Double award winning AllClear - Gold at industry awards!: AllClear winning gold at Insurance Times Awards 2018

We are delighted to have won two awards at the Insurance Times Awards 2018!

AllClear won GOLD for Personal Lines Broker of the Year, and gained the Silver Award for Digital Media Campaign of the Year.

These awards are the largest and most prestigious accolades of their kind, and are designed to recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation across the breadth of UK general insurance. They are judged by independent panels of experts from across the sector, and shine a light on outstanding achievement – honouring the ‘best of the best’.

The Personal Lines Broker Awards are open to any broker offering insurance to individuals. AllClear was chosen ahead of all other brokers for its specialist medical travel insurance, that serves those who struggle to get cover elsewhere. The company was noted for offering cover for over 1,300 medical conditions to more than 2.5 million people.

The award also recognises AllClear’s increased investment in its UK call centres – bucking the current trend to focus customer services just online, and leading the way for using innovative technology to influence pricing. For example, cutting premiums for customers with cancer, and supporting the FCA and Access to Insurance for all customers with medical conditions.

The Digital Media Campaign of the Year Award recognised the company’s digital campaign called Dementia House, an interactive landing page which sensitively and clearly explains issues surrounding dementia and raises brand awareness to a new audience.

Chris Rolland, AllClear CEO, says he was delighted on behalf of the whole team:

“There are a huge number of people who work incredibly hard to make this happen, and each and every one of our team should be very proud. It’s our five star Defaqto high quality products and focus on the customer that truly sets us apart from the competition with 97% of our customers voting us Great or Excellent on Trustpilot.

“It’s been an incredible year in terms of our growth and high customer satisfaction achievement levels, and now following this very prestigious award, I’m very much looking forward to seeing what successes we can build upon for next year.”

The awards, which took place on Thursday 6th December at The O2 Intercontinental, London, were hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr, and are the biggest night in the Insurance calendar.

AllClear sells majority stake to Synova

January 15, 2018 by AllClear3

AllClear, the UK’s leading specialist travel insurance broker for customers with pre-existing medical conditions, has sold a majority stake in its business to Synova Capital, a growth investor, building on investments in Stackhouse Poland, Defaqto among others. AllClear, operating in the UK, Ireland and Australia, has market-leading expertise in covering impaired travel risks through its proprietary data, accumulated from nearly 20 years of experience. This data enables AllClear to price impaired travel risk more effectively than its competitors, who often lack the data to provide affordable cover for many medical conditions. AllClear transacts business direct through its UK-based contact centre, white label partnerships and its own price comparison website. It has provided cover for over one million policyholders. As an example of its expertise in an often complex market, last month AllClear became the first insurance provider to cut its premiums by as much as 17% for those diagnosed with certain major cancers.

And for the month of January, for the first time in its history, AllClear has announced a 20%* discount across a number of products to celebrate this exciting investment. Mike Rutherford, Co-Founder of AllClear said the business remains focused on providing high quality cover at the right price: “Synova has a proven track record for investing in technology, healthcare and financial services sectors, and this new investment will enable us to further develop new products, technological innovations and extended services for the often under-served, seniors market.”

As part of the transaction, Chris Rolland will be joining the Business as CEO. Chris was previously CEO of Staysure and CEO of American Express Insurance Services managing high growth organisations. Founders, Mike Rutherford and Chris Wacey, will re-invest and remain with the Business as nonexecutive directors.

AllClear sells majority stake to Synova: Chris Rolland

Chris Rolland, CEO of AllClear commented: “I am delighted to have partnered with Synova to identify this opportunity. AllClear’s founding shareholders, Mike Rutherford and Chris Wacey, together with their team, have built an award-winning offering. Having amassed two decades of experience and a unique claims database, AllClear has a reputation for delivering excellent long-term underwriting performance and a track record of exceptional customer service. We will continue to build on our expertise, rolling-out new products and services which will provide even greater access to travel for those managing all types of conditions.”

David Menton, a Managing Partner of Synova and a Director of AllClear concluded: “In line with our strategy, Synova continues to target niche businesses in the Financial Services sector. AllClear, which provides specialist cover to over-50’s, has evidenced rapid growth in recent years by offering better access to policies, better cover and market-leading customer service for policy-holders with impaired health. We intend to support Chris Rolland and the team as they develop and promote competitive, accessible and inclusive products for an ageing population often managing pre-existing medical conditions.”

Launched in 2001, AllClear has provided cover to more than one million policy-holders with over 1,300 different conditions. Most of its customers are within the 50+ age demographic. It has been the partner of choice for BIBA (British Insurance Brokers’ Association) since 2011 for medical travel insurance, and is the recommended travel insurance provider for Diabetes UK, the Stroke Association, and Motability among many others.

To accommodate the increasing growth of the organisation, AllClear, which already has more than 100 employees, is hiring a further 30 staff to its call centre in Romford, dedicated to sales and customer service.

AllClear wins UK Broker award

October 9, 2017 by AllClear3

AllClear wins UK broker award: logo

AllClear, a specialist in travel insurance for people with pre-existing medical conditions, has been recognised for its excellence in Marketing and Consumer Engagement at this year’s UK Broker Awards.

The category celebrates campaigns that use social media and/or more traditional mediums such as print, radio or television to: raise brand awareness; break into new markets; increase market share; or enhance customer loyalty.

The award recognised AllClear’s multi-channel brand campaign across TV, YouTube, Display and Facebook that centres around its new brand icon, Big Tick. Big Tick was used to create campaign material that would stand out, was highly memorable and could be used on multiple channels. Big Tick reinforces AllClear’s brand values: expert, straightforward, inclusive and fair.

AllClear used TV advertising to target a large audience, encouraging visits to its website. The company then re-targeted those who had responded using YouTube, Display and Facebook to tailor messaging based on their activity on the site. At each touch point, Big Tick was used with engaging content and messaging.

In delivering the campaign, AllClear surpassed all reach, market share and growth targets. It achieved a GWP growth of 11.5%, and the campaign was seen 173 millions times, exceeding its target of 150 million.

Garry Nelson, Head of Marketing at AllClear, says he is extremely pleased that the company has been recognised for its furthering of customer engagement:

“Our aim was to ensure that AllClear stands out in the market place, with Big Tick providing a consumer champion that supports our messaging and overall belief that everyone has the right to travel. That our campaign has been recognised as successful by such a prestigious awards body is a significant achievement.”

Essex abseil for Cancer Research UK hailed a huge success

April 21, 2017 by AllClear3

On Saturday 4th March 2017 60 brave people abseiled down one of the oldest church towers in Essex to help raise monies for Cancer Research UK.

The abseil took place at the historic St Edmunds & St Mary’s Church in Ingatestone which is a fine example of Norman architecture built over 900 years ago. The tower everyone abseiled down was built in the 15th Century!

The weather was perfect for the abseil and many people came along to cheer on their family and friends taking part. In fact, around 10 people who were just passing fancied a go and signed up on the day!

There was also a grand raffle and merchandise stall on the day which helped raise even more monies for the cause.

Early indications suggest the event will raise around £16-£17k.

The Essex Abseil was kindly sponsored by AllClear Travel Insurance who also had 14 staff members take part.

Garry Nelson of AllClear, says the company believes it is important to support local charity events: “This was a great idea, using a local landmark with an exciting and daring challenge to create the required buzz. We were delighted to sponsor the event, and very pleased so many AllClear employees were brave enough to take part, doing their bit to raise more for the charity.”

Lucy Ware, from Essex, who took part with her husband said “I signed up for the abseil some weeks ago, but it wasn’t until I woke up on Saturday morning that it dawned on me that I was going to descend down a 80ft tower! The most frightening part was having to step backwards off the ledge.  However, once I’d done that, it was great fun and I’m delighted to hear that the event has raised so much for Cancer Research UK.”

Darren Couchman, Local Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research UK said, “It was a fantastic day, it couldn’t have gone any better. The weather was perfect, lots of people came along to cheer their loved ones on and the atmosphere was electric. We are truly grateful to the 60 brave people who took on the abseil. I could never do it so I have the utmost respect for those who did it. To have raised such a huge amount is amazing, I can’t thank everyone enough who helped make the day a huge success. Special thanks also to AllClear Travel Insurance who sponsored the event. Their generosity means more monies will now go directly to our life saving research. We are very lucky we have so many fantastic local volunteers and fundraisers who supported the event. Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”

AllClear fundraises for football legend’s Willow Foundation

September 26, 2016 by AllClear3

Bob Wilson, OBE, Ex-Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeping legend, started the charity with his wife, Megs, after their daughter Anna died following a battle with cancer.

Their experience brought home how important it was for those between the ages of 16 to 40 with serious illnesses to have a life outside of their treatment.

More than 70 guests attended a golf day at the Braintree Golf Club, including suppliers and clients of AllClear and its related company Leisure Link.

Bob says AllClear’s support over the last ten years has been invaluable: “Since launching in 1999, we have organised over 13,000 special days, and 1300 so far this year. This has taken us from a two person team to a 40 person operation, and £2 million a year is needed to fund this.

Chris Wacey, CEO of the AllClear Group, says the Willow Foundation does a fantastic job in providing enjoyment to those who need it most:

“In ten years we have raised over £120,000, thanks to the generosity of our clients, suppliers and associates. We are proud to be working with such an outstanding charity and hope to continue doing so for many years to come.”
